Our story
More than four decades of crowning ceremonies, parades and summer fun on the Fife coast.
- 1286
A royal burgh with a long history
Kinghorn, the 'blue headland' on the Fife coast, has a long royal history: King Alexander III died near Kinghorn Ness in 1286. Centuries later its community spirit still shows every June.
- 1981
The charity is registered
Kinghorn Childrens Gala Committee was registered as a charity on 21 October 1981, with the aim of giving every child in the Parish of Kinghorn a week of sport, culture and fun.
- Every June
A Gala tradition takes shape
The week settles into its familiar shape: the crowning of the King and Queen in the Parish Church, fun on the beach, Kinghorn's Got Talent and the fancy dress parade led by a pipe band.
- 2016
Carnival
A carnival-themed Gala, with children designing the badges and the programme cover. The door-to-door envelope collection raised over £1,700 towards the week.
- 2017
The Wild West
A Wild West Gala chosen by the children, with a parade from Park Place to the Community Centre followed by a hoe-down and disco.
- 2024
The Circus
Gala Week roll up, roll up: a circus theme, new events alongside old favourites and the annual brown envelope collection around the village.
- 2025
Our strongest year
Income reached £13,256 in the year to September 2025, the highest in recent years, thanks to the people and businesses of Kinghorn.
